Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, he played 20 seasons in Major League Baseball, the last 14 with the Boston Red Sox. He was a 10-time All-Star, a 3x World Series Champion, the 2013 World Series MVP, and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022.

Beyond baseball, David founded the David Ortiz Children's Fund in 2007, which has raised millions to provide life-saving cardiac surgeries for children in New England and the Dominican Republic.
